Assembly & Instructions

What It Is

The Air Hogs Saw Blade is an indoor R/C helicopter that shoots foam discs decorated to look like a saw blade up to 30 feet. To fire, simply aim the helicopter while it's in flight, hit the button on the remote, and foam disc blasts out. The set comes with two cardboard targets, but we think kids will probably want to find their own. The controller has built-in storage for the seven discs. The Saw Blade is also available in two frequencies, A and B, so if you're buying two helicopters for indoor battles, which we think is a totally cool idea, you'll want to make sure to buy different frequencies. The frequency is clearly marked on the box.

Why It’s Fun

The Air Hogs helicopters keep getting better and better as the technology improves, and this is one of the easiest to fly yet. There is a bit of a learning curve with this, but that's certainly part of the fun. Overall, we found this easy to use, fun, and definitely worth the time it takes to master the flight. We also liked the super sturdy construction that is very forgiving as you learn to fly.

Who It’s For

The Air Hogs Saw Blade is for ages 10 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

The controller takes six AA batteries, which are not included, and the helicopter has a built-in rechargeable battery that is charged from the controller with the retractable cord. A complete charge takes about 25 minutes and you'll get 15 minutes of constant flight. It flies best on a full charge.

It's recommended that you calibrate the helicopter before you fly, but all that means is placing it, turned on, on a flat surface for four or five seconds.

Bright lights can also interfere with the infrared controller, but that's common with any IR remote. Just fly it somewhere else.

The design on the charger plug has improved over previous versions, making it easy for little kids to use.

The foam discs can get jammed and Spin Master has included a tool that can help kids free them. We wish they would put storage for the tool on the controller as well because it's small, but just make sure to put it somewhere where you're not going to lose it.
