What It Is
K'NEX has a new line of motorized building sets called Robo-Creatures that includes Robo-Strike, a robot scorpion. The Robo-Strike set comes with 163 K'NEX parts, primarily rods and connectors, and a motor for exciting mechanical movement. Once built, turn it on to watch Robo-Strike walk just like a scorpion, complete with striking stinger. The switch on the motor can make Robo-Strike move forward or backward. Kids can combine Robo-Strike with the other two Robo-Creatures building sets (Robo-Smash and Robo-Sting), which are sold separately, to create the ultimate robotic creature.
Why It’s Fun
It's pretty cool to watch this scorpion robot walk back and forth. And kids will have a sense of accomplishment after building this model and then setting it in motion.
Who It’s For
The Robo-Strike set is for ages 7 and up. It will appeal most to kids who like construction play and, of course, creating their own robotic toys.
What To Be Aware Of
Two AA batteries are required but not included.
This set took us 25 minutes to assemble.
Special Needs
Our Special Needs contributor Emily Vanek shares her thoughts on how this product might be a good choice for a Special Needs child.
KNEX are great fine motor skill builders for older kids with special needs. You can also work on problem solving, patterns and cause and effect with these motorized toys. Color recognition, counting, following instructions are all things you can learn through play.
