What It Is
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutagen Ooze Drop Copter is designed to work with the Mutagen Ooze compound and the basic Turtles action figures, both of which are sold separately from the Copter. Kids hold the Copter, which has kid-powered propeller blades, by the end of its tail and pretend to fly it around. With a flick of the thumb, kids can dump the ooze from the twin tubs on enemies below. The set includes several pieces of plastic ooze that you can use if you don't buy the Mutagen Ooze compound. The Copter is designed to hold one basic Turtles figure, and there is a winch with a grappling hook that allows kids to raise another figure as the heroes fly into battle.
Why It’s Fun
This is likely to be frustrating for little kids. While the ooze dumping works pretty well, we found that the Turtles figure doesn't always stay in the cockpit, particularly if the kids aren't careful when they're "flying" the copter. And the winch with the figure attached is fairly heavy and may be difficult for smaller hands to operate. If you tuck the hook under the Copter as directed, the figure won't fit in the cockpit any longer.
While this is a great idea and kids will get a kick out of playing with the ooze and dropping it, the overall play experience is ultimately fairly clumsy, and kids may spend more time trying to get the toy set up than playing with it.
Who It’s For
The Mutagen Ooze Drop Copter is for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans ages 4 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Assembly of the Copter took us about five minutes, and the directions were pretty clear.
We think the small size of the plastic ooze pieces, which really just look like random pieces of plastic, will mean that they will easily get lost.
