What It Is
The First Builders Safari Train is a 13-piece building set that lets preschoolers build a train to transport the five chunky animal blocks: alligator, elephant, hippo, lion, and parrot. The animal blocks can be stacked on the train or on top of each other. The train's blue wheels really roll, and when kids press the train whistle, they'll hear a whistling noise.
Why It’s Fun
Preschoolers will love transporting the animal blocks on the train and making the train whistle. The chunky blocks are easy for small hands to grasp and offer a great way to introduce construction play at an early age. This building set engages preschoolers in imaginative, open-ended play, while also helping them develop fine motor skills.
Who It’s For
The First Builders Safari Train is for ages 1–5. As children grow, they'll interact with it differently as their fine motor skills and their understanding of animals and narrative play develop.
What To Be Aware Of
This set is compatible with other MEGA Bloks First Builders sets, which are sold separately.
Special Needs
Our Special Needs contributor Emily Vanek shares her thoughts on how this product might be a good choice for a Special Needs child.
Kids of any ability need to develop their fine motor skills, which are essential for intricate movements with the hand such as grasping or writing. Stacking blocks is a great activity to help kids develop and strengthen these skills. The size of the MEGA Bloks First Builders helps immensely with these skills. The large size coupled with the rounded edges of the connectors makes the blocks easy to stack. All kids love feeling successful, and these blocks provide a sense of accomplishment while playing and building vital skills.
