What It Is
Lite Brix is a brick-based building system that works with other blocks, such as those made by LEGO and MEGA Bloks. The centerpiece of all Lite Brix models are the special bricks that have circuitry and built-in LED lights. The Lite Brix Lite Up Fire Station set comes with 13 special bricks as well as 11 connectors, 44 special plastic parts, 194 brick blocks, a battery power pack, a figure, and a decal sheet. You can follow the instructions to build the set (fire station and fire truck) as shown or rebuild the pieces into different configurations. When your model is complete, you can light it up. The LEDs will flash in four different colors, and they will last hundreds of hours.
The lights are powered by a battery case, which is integrated into the model. Follow the directions to plug the cords into different areas on the model and light the whole thing up.
Additional Lite Brix sets are available and sold separately.
Why It’s Fun
The light-up feature on the Lite Up Fire Station set is really dramatic. And we did find that the Lite Brix bricks work really well with other construction bricks. Lite Brix is an exciting way to light up kids' construction play and imagination.
Who It’s For
The Lite Brix Lite Up Fire Station is for ages 6 and up.
They will appeal most to kids who like construction toys and building.
What To Be Aware Of
It takes about 40-45 minutes to assemble.
The basic bricks can be used with any other block-based construction system.
One of the awkward things about this set is that you can't really play with it when the lights are on because the power cords are not that long. Kids won't be able to move the fire truck more than a foot away from the battery pack.
To connect the bricks, you'll need to use special connector pieces. They come in two styles: straight and angled. They are really small, so make sure you keep these away from little kids.
You'll also want to make sure that when you put the bricks together they really click together well. You may have to push a little harder than you expect.
Also, while these are designed to be played with, they are still brick construction toys, so don't play too roughly with the model because you want it to stay together.
