What It Is
Bear in Underwear is a backpack adventure board game. Players travel around the game board collecting their animal's favorite underwear, food, and forest item from the backpack. The game is played inside the game box. Each player gets two animal cards. Players take turns rolling the jumbo die and moving their character pawn to the first matching colored space rolled.
If the player lands on a backpack space, he gets to reach in the backpack for items. The backpack spaces have numbers on them, so if you land on a backpack space with a 2 on it, remove two items. If you need the items, place them on the matching space on either of your animal cards. If you don't need them, ask the next player if he needs them. If he does, he can take one or more of the items. If he doesn't, ask the next player. If no one needs the pieces, place them back into the backpack.
There are three special spaces you can land on. Roll Again means you get to roll the jumbo die and take another turn. Animal Time! means you have to get up and act like your favorite animal. Food Time! means you must get up and act like you're eating your favorite food.
The first player to get all three items on each of their animal cards wins the game.
Bear in Underwear comes with a game board extender piece, a backpack, 10 jumbo cards (animal cards), a jumbo die, 10 underwear pieces, 10 forest items, 10 food pieces, 10 character pawns, and four stands. It is for two to four players.
Why It’s Fun
Bear in Underwear is a cute game that promotes sharing and helps preschoolers with matching skills. We also like the interactive elements to the game—pretending to be an animal or pretending to eat your favorite food. These break up the roll-the-dice-and-move gameplay and requires kids to move around and get silly.
Who It’s For
Bear in Underwear is for ages 3 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
If you want to play a shorter game, play with only one animal card each.
