What It Is
The Perplexus puzzles are mazes inside spheres. The newest puzzle in the line is Perplexus Twist. This puzzle offers a new twist on the play. You still have to guide a ball through the tracks of the maze by moving the sphere, but you also have to twist the tracks inside the sphere to meet up with the next track the ball must go on. Use the knobs on the side of the sphere to move the tracks and guide the ball through the numbered maze following sequentially from 1-30. There are multiple obstacles, such as cliffhangers and drops, that you haven't seen in Perplexus puzzles before.
Why It’s Fun
This is really kind of difficult. PlaSmart rates it as a 7 level (for them), so we don't really have a frame of reference for what that means. We think it's pretty hard and will take a little bit of patience. One of the other things we noticed is that the numbers you have to follow are molded into the track, so if the light is reflecting off the clear sphere, it may be a little difficult to see where you're going next. Take some time to familiarize yourself with the tracks before you get started to minimize frustration, and then you can focus on the real—and really fun—challenge: getting the ball through the maze.
Who It’s For
Perplexus Twist is for ages 6 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Other Perplexus puzzles include Rookie, the original Perplexus, and Epic. Each has a different difficulty level and is sold separately.
