What It Is
The Light-Up Tracing Pad is a light up pad illuminated with LED lights that makes it easy for kids to trace and create a variety of images. The set comes with 10 templates to trace. Select one and place it on the pad. Turn on the pad's light, and place a blank sheet of paper over the template. The light from underneath makes the template outline visible on the blank sheet of paper, so kids can easily trace the template design onto the blank paper. Kids can also place different accessory templates on the pad to customize their traced drawing. There are extra templates to download online at crayola.com/tracing. The set includes a pencil for tracing and a box of 12 Crayola colored pencils. There is a girl-themed version and a boy-themed version. Each is sold separately.
Why It’s Fun
The Light-Up Tracing Pad really lets kids build their own drawing using all the tracing templates in the set. While this works best with line drawings on one side of a piece of paper, we found that we could also trace pictures out of newspapers or printed from the computer. Play around with it and be creative. After all, that's the point! We really like the bright LED lights and the fact that the paper stays put as you're tracing. For creative play or school projects, this will be a nice addition to any home art studio.
Who It’s For
The Light-Up Tracing Pad is for ages 6 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Three AA batteries are required but not included.
Don't throw out the box. If you're tracing in a bright room, you can use the box as a shadow box and place the pad inside the box so you won't have the bright light competing with the light on the pad.
While the lights are tempered by a screen over them, don't stare directly into the pad without a piece of paper on it.
