What It Is
With the LEGO Duplo Disney Princess Cinderella's Carriage, preschoolers can build the iconic carriage from the classic movie Cinderella. This 20-piece set includes a Cinderella LEGO Duplo figure with detachable skirt for dress-up play. (The skirt can be mixed and matched with other Duplo Disney Princess minifigures, sold separately.) This set features a castle portal, a gold-decorated pumpkin carriage, a horse, a tower, and a clock. There are also decorated Duplo bricks with pictures of a glass slipper and clock on them. The carriage opens up so that kids can place the Cinderella figure inside. The carriage also has real rolling wheels. As with all Duplo sets, the bricks in this set are chunky enough for small hands to grasp.
Why It’s Fun
While this building set doesn't let kids transform a pumpkin into a carriage, it still gives Cinderella fans a new way to interact and imagine with the princess. The instructions are easy for preschoolers to follow, and the package shows pictures of other ways to build using the pieces in this set. Cinderella's Carriage is compatible with other Duplo Disney Princess sets as well as all other Duplo sets, so kids can expand the imaginative building possibilities.
Who It’s For
Cinderella's Carriage is for ages 2–5.
What To Be Aware Of
It took us about four minutes to assemble this set. The emphasis on this set as a stand-alone is more on play than building. However, combined with other DUPLO sets, it provides a terrific base for all kinds of imaginative building play. (Think: Let's build a kingdom.) No matter how long it takes you to build, remember that building is part of the fun of LEGO.
Special Needs
Our Special Needs contributor Emily Vanek shares her thoughts on how this product might be a good choice for a Special Needs child.
Smaller hands can manipulate these larger bricks easier and work on fine motor skills, color recognition and stacking. You can count, work on less and more and other early math skills as well.
