What It Is
Baseball Guys comes with a washable felt baseball field, an adjustable scoreboard, an umpire figure, and 26 2.5-inch baseball player figures divided into two teams: red and blue. The idea is that with this set, kids can make their own baseball games by positioning them on the field and imagining play. The manufacturer says that the set can also be used by coaches as a visual training tool or to teach someone who doesn't understand baseball how the game is played. The figures can also be used as cake or table decorations for birthday parties, tailgates, or sports banquets. All the pieces can be stored inside the stackable container with lid and carry handle.
Why It’s Fun
There are no real instructions for Baseball Guys, so kids can play through a pretend game of baseball or play out other scenarios with the figures. Kids with an interest in baseball will find Baseball Guys most appealing. However, those kids might also rather watch a real baseball game on TV or go outside and play baseball instead of acting out a pretend game with immobile figures.
Who It’s For
Baseball Guys are for baseball fans ages 3 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Other sets include Football Guys, College Football, Hockey Guys, NHL Hockey Guys, and Soccer Guys & Girls. Each is sold separately.
Other than showing how players can be identified and moving characters around the play mat, there really isn't much ability to use this set to teach baseball play. At best, this is an incomplete tool for teaching the game.
