What It Is
The Annoying Orange web series has become a viral sensation with more than 800 million views on YouTube. Created by Dane Boedigheimer, the animations feature a variety of talking fruits and vegetables. Boedigheimer brought the characters to life by superimposing his own eyes and mouth on them. The main character is the orange, who tries to annoy the kitchen crew with his hilarious and sarcastic exchanges.
Now the characters, including Orange, are available offline in a collection of collectible figures and clip-ons. The 2.5-inch Talking Kitchen Crew Collectibles are figures that are textured with fruit-like detail. Available characters are Orange, Pear, Midget Apple, Marshmallow, and Passion Fruit. Each is sold separately and retails for about $9.99.
The Annoying Orange Talking Kitchen Crew Clip-Ons are 1.5-inch characters attached to a metal clip. Each says between six and 10 phrases, depending on the character. The Clip-Ons can be clipped to a backpack, belt loop, or purse so kids can take the characters with them wherever they go. Available characters are Orange, Pear, Midget Apple, Grandpa Lemon, Marshmallow, and Passion Fruit. Each is sold separately and retails for $7.99.
The Talking Fresh Squeezed Take-Alongs are 2.25-inch soft characters attached to a plastic clip, so kids can take them on the go. Each says between six and 10 phrases, depending on the character. Available characters are Orange, Pear, Midget Apple, and Marshmallow. Each is sold separately and retails for $7.99.
The Mini Kitchen Crew Collectibles are 1.25-inch mini figures available in a three-pack of favorite characters. These are not talking toys. A three-pack retails for $7.99.
Why It’s Fun
Fans of the web series will like these hilarious talking and non-talking toys. The phrases and facial expressions are straight from the web series and capture the unique humor found in each Annoying Orange webisode. Just like the web series, the Annoying Orange Collectibles are silly, funny, and fruity.
Who It’s For
The Annoying Orange Collectibles are for ages 4 and up. We find that the content is a little better for ages 7 and up because of the characters' wisecracking sense of humor. Age 7 is about the time that kids discover sarcasm, so they will find this completely appealing. (Parents, get ready to roll your eyes, if you can stop laughing long enough.)
What to Be Aware of
The Annoying Orange Collectibles are available exclusively at Toys "R" Us.
Each of the talking toys comes with three non-replaceable button cell batteries.
