At TimetoPlayMag.com, we want to engage, inform and entertain our readers to give them the benefit of our knowledge, experience and the breadth of products we cover. We look at more than 10,000 new toys and children’s products every year, and our primary purpose is to help you make the best choices for the kids in your life.
Our goal is to give you the real story on what you’ll find when you bring a toy home. And we know that every kid and every family is different. That’s why we always say: “The hot toy is only hot if it’s hot for your child.”
Our editorial team has more than 100 years combined experience working in the toy industry. Our rating system ranks toys on 4 key criteria:
Over the years we’ve learned a lot about what makes great toys and exciting play experiences. We want to help you create the best experiences for your kids and your family.
Ultimately, you’re the best judge of what you want to bring into your home — and what’s best for your kids. And because you’re an important part of the Time to Play family, we invite you to let us know if you ever find an error or have any ideas how we can better help you. After all, we exist for one reason: to help you have more fun!
One of the newest R/C toys in the Air Hogs line is HyperActives, miniature remote-controlled, self-righting stunt cars. Charge your HyperActives car using the remote, and then you can make the car do all kinds of different stunts. The car goes up to 20 MPH real time. You can control the car from 100 feet away. The foil on top of the car allows it to right itself if you run it into a wall or flip it over so the action just keeps going. The car comes with rubber all-terrain tires and foam tires that kids can switch to drive their HyperActives car on different surfaces.
The name says it all: HyperActives are fast. Kids will like being able to control the car from longer distances than most R/C cars and that HyperActives right themselves instead of kids having to stop the play and turn the car over.
HyperActives are for ages 12 and up.
A rechargeable lithium polymer battery, which is included, powers each HyperActives car. The remote requires six AA batteries, which are not included.
It takes between 30 and 50 minutes to fully charge the car. To charge, simply connect the car to the remote.
The car can be used indoors and outdoors. However, if you play outside, be sure to keep the car in a dry area away from water.
The car mostly rights itself. There are times when it will get on its side and may need a nudge. The best way to get the car to right itself is to vary the throttle. In other words, give it a little power then back off, rather than just holding the throttle down.
