- Fun — Does it engage the child? Does it inspire imaginative play? Does it contribute to creative expression? Is it entertaining?
- Repeat Play OR Collectibility — Some toys are played with, some are collected. If we feel a toy is better suited for collectibility, we’ll rank it based on Collectibility instead of Repeat Play.
- Repeat Play — Will kids come back to it over time? Does the toy allow diverse imaginative play experiences? Does it provide longer-term play value?
- Collectibility — Some toys may have limited traditional play, but kids will treasure them as collectibles.
- Assembly/Instructions — Is the toy easy to assemble? Are the instructions clear?

What It Is
Kids can pretend to be grown-ups with the Tote & Go Laptop that looks like a cool adult laptop, but is a learning/activity toy for kids. Sized right for kids to use, the laptop has an LCD screen and comes with 20 learning activities. Open the laptop to choose one of six activity categories: Music Party, which lets kids listen to a song and add sounds; My Downloads, where kids can receive special e-cards or watch and listen to stories; Net Pals, a pretend social network with five animal pals; Letters & Words, which includes six letter and vocabulary activities and games; Numbers & Shapes, which includes six numbers, counting, and shape activities and games; and Logic & Games, which comes with four activities that get kids thinking.
Parents can connect the laptop to their Mac or PC using the included USB cable. Download software from the VTech website that enables you to add content to the laptop, such as stories or personalized e-cards. The mouse stores on top of the laptop, and there is a convenient carry handle for taking the laptop on the go. There are also three volume levels.
Why It’s Fun
Pretending to be grown up and do what grown-ups do is a classic play pattern. Naturally, kids see their parents using computers and laptops, and they want to have the same gadget experience. VTech has created a laptop that lets kids feel big while experiencing content that's age-appropriate for them.

What to Be Aware of
The laptop comes with three AA batteries. However, these are for in-store demo purposes, and VTech recommends replacing them for best results.
