What It Is
The Play-Doh Sesame Street Color Mixer lets kids pretend to play with Elmo to mix colors. There are three ways to play. First is the color mixer. Open the Elmo lid and place two small balls of different colored Play-Doh on the base. Close the lid and turn the handle to hear Jack in the Box music and Elmo phrases. When the music stops, the mixing is done, and you'll have a new color of Play-Doh. There is also a rotating base with different colors on it. When you rotate the base to select a color, Elmo will talk about that color. Each color on the base also has a Play-Doh mold for making objects out of Play-Doh, such as apples. The Color Mixer comes with a playmat, a scooper, and three containers of Play-Doh in red, blue, and yellow.
Why It’s Fun
Elmo is a very popular Sesame Street character, and little kids will like interacting with Elmo as they play with Play-Doh. Through play kids are also being introduced to color mixing (how two colors mix together to create a new color) and color recognition. Working with the Play-Doh and moving all the different pieces is great for helping kids develop fine motor skills.

What to Be Aware of
It's difficult to turn the handle when mixing the Play-Doh. Young children will need help from parents. Make sure you place the Color Mixer on a sturdy table or the floor before turning the handle.
There is some assembly required.
Two AA batteries are required, but not included.
After you've mixed colors, there isn't an extra container to hold your new color. If you don't want your orange in the same container as your yellow, placing it in a re-sealable plastic bag should help keep it from drying out.
Play-Doh contains wheat.
