What It Is
The Breast Milk Baby is one of the newest and most talked about items in the doll category. This is a baby doll that really demonstrates breastfeeding. The child wears a vest with flower "pasties" on the front. (Though the flowers are positioned where the nipples would be, this is not an anatomically correct vest.) The doll recognizes sensors in the flowers. When you put the doll up to one of the flowers, the doll makes a suckling noise and moves its mouth. When taken away from the flowers, the doll cries and fusses as children pat its back, and eventually the doll will burp. The doll comes in six styles—three boys and three girls.
Why It’s Fun
There's a lot of great doll play out there that engages kids in pretend play and roleplay. The Breast Milk Baby is an alternative to bottle play or feeding play dolls that are on toy shelves. The idea behind this doll is playing out something children might already be seeing in their homes.

What to Be Aware of
There has been a lot of commentary over whether or not this doll is appropriate for children, and there has been a lot of negative reaction here in the U.S., though the doll has sold well overseas. This doll points out how important it is for each person to determine what is developmentally and age appropriate for his or her child. Whether this doll or any doll is right for your child is truly up to you.
The doll requires three AA batteries, which are not included.
