Our editorial team has more than 100 years combined experience working in the toy industry. Our rating system ranks toys on 4 key criteria:
- Fun — Does it engage the child? Does it inspire imaginative play? Does it contribute to creative expression? Is it entertaining?
- Repeat Play OR Collectibility — Some toys are played with, some are collected. If we feel a toy is better suited for collectibility, we’ll rank it based on Collectibility instead of Repeat Play.
- Repeat Play — Will kids come back to it over time? Does the toy allow diverse imaginative play experiences? Does it provide longer-term play value?
- Collectibility — Some toys may have limited traditional play, but kids will treasure them as collectibles.
- Assembly/Instructions — Is the toy easy to assemble? Are the instructions clear?

What It Is
Dixit is the illustrated game of creative guesswork. Every picture tells a story, and it's up to players to use their imaginations and guess what story a picture will tell. On every turn, the storyteller calls out a short phrase or word to match the image on his card. Then each player chooses the card they think closely matches that phrase, and everyone votes on what one card is the card chosen by the storyteller. If you guess correctly, you move ahead on the board.
Dixit comes with 84 illustrated cards, 36 voting tokens in six different colors, and six wooden rabbit pawns. The game is for three to six players.
Why It’s Fun
All you really need to play Dixit is your imagination. The rules are easy for children and adults to learn, making this a great family game. The beautiful illustrations on the cards are especially appealing and will get the creative juices flowing.
