- Repeat Play OR Collectibility — Some toys are played with, some are collected. If we feel a toy is better suited for collectibility, we’ll rank it based on Collectibility instead of Repeat Play.
- Repeat Play — Will kids come back to it over time? Does the toy allow diverse imaginative play experiences? Does it provide longer-term play value?
- Collectibility — Some toys may have limited traditional play, but kids will treasure them as collectibles.
- Assembly/Instructions — Is the toy easy to assemble? Are the instructions clear?

What It Is
The Hot Wheels Video Racer is a new, Hot Wheels-scale car with an integrated video camera that lets you create, edit, and share videos with sound. Everything is inside the car, including the built-in mini cam and LCD screen for instant playback. The car works on any standard Hot Wheels track so kids can get a driver's eye view as the car races down the track. You can also mount the Video Racer car, using the special holder, on other surfaces, such as your wrist, a helmet, or anywhere the action is so you can record your own stunts. When you're done recording, you can transfer your videos to the Video Racer editing software (available as a free download) and create action-packed videos with music and graphics to enjoy and share. The car has 12 minutes of memory and comes in either green or red. It comes with a USB cable for connecting to a computer.
Why It’s Fun
This is Hot Wheels like you've never seen it. Tech-savvy kids are really going to like recording their cars going down the track or recording themselves performing cool stunts on a bike or skateboard. From shooting to editing to sharing, this is a whole new way to experience the action and excitement of Hot Wheels.
Making and sharing videos has become an important part of an overall play pattern, and this is a great way targeted to boys, though of course not exclusively, to make videos as they play.

What to Be Aware of
The video software only works with a PC, but if you're Mac-Based, you can import your videos into any editing software. (We did it through iPhoto and then imported the clip into iMovie, and it couldn't have been easier.)
