What It Is
Transformers: Dark of the Moon doesn't hit theaters until July 1, 2011, but fans can already get involved with the new versions of these classic characters with the first wave of toys based on the film. Starting May 16, Hasbro is releasing a line of action figures, vehicles, and roleplay toys that are all, like the Transformers themselves, "more than meets the eye."
The Mechtech Voyager Class Optimus Prime is an eight-inch tall figure that transforms from Autobot to truck. It comes with a unique converting Mechtech weapon that is interchangeable with all other core Transformers Mechtech figures. Other characters include Ironhide and Megatron.
Why It’s Fun
Transformers are all about transformation, and kids will love transforming this cool-looking action figure. They can act out scenes from the movies or create their own Autobot versus Decepticon battles.
Who It’s For
The Voyager Class action figures are for ages 5 and up. Fans of the Transformers movies will like this new look into the new movie.
What to Be Aware of
The Voyager Class Optimus Prime figure is a level two on the transformation difficulty scale. It took us about 45 minutes to transform the Optimus Prime figure from Autobot to truck. The included instructions are good, but they are really more of a guide. It might take lots of trial and error before finally completing the transformation, but that's part of the play.
