What It Is
Hasbro has updated the popular Guesstures game. In this fast-paced game of charades, players take turns acting out words on four cards while teammates try to guess them correctly before time runs out.
To get started, pick four cards and place them in the Action Timer. (It looks like a Clapperboard used on movie sets before someone says "action!") Lower the timer's arm to start the timer. Act out the word on the first card, but remember, you only have a few seconds to get your team to guess the word. If they guess correctly, grab the card before it drops into the action timer and is out of play. Try to get your team to say as many of the words as possible, and the winner is determined by adding up the grabbed cards at the end of the game. There are two types of cards: Easy cards, which are worth one point; and Hard cards, which are worth two points. If any of your cards dropped into the timer, simply lift up the timer to remove those cards and place them in a discard pile.
The updated version also comes with a Best Performance Trophy. In order to "win" the trophy, a player has to have used at least two Hard cards on his turn and all four cards must be guessed and grabbed before time runs out. If a player meets these requirements, he keeps the trophy until another player earns it on his or her turn. The team in possession of the trophy by the end of the game receives an extra two points.
Guesstures comes with 378 cards, an Action Timer, a label sheet, and a Best Performance Trophy. It is for four or more players.
Why It’s Fun
Guesstures adds another level of excitement to classic Charades. Not only do you have to act out words, but you also have to be fast. Including Easy and Hard cards makes the game fun for everyone. Depending on age and experience, players choose cards from either deck in any combination. So you can have three Easy cards and one Hard card or all Easy cards. There are also two words on each card, so you can choose which word you think you might be better at acting out.
Who It’s For
Guesstures is a great family and party game for ages 8 and up.
What to Be Aware of
When you lower the timer's arm, be careful not to push down the cards.
