What It Is
The Hearts for Hearts Girls doll line consists of six collectible dolls: Consuelo from Mexico, Dell from the U.S., Lilian from Belarus, Nahji from India, and Tipi from Laos. Each 13.5-inch doll features clothing and accessories authentic to its country, along with a friendship bracelet that girls can wear, a comb, and storybook. The storybooks give background about the doll and country. Girls can also visit www.hearts4heartsgirls.com to find out more about the dolls, play games, read stories, and more.
With every Hearts for Hearts Girls doll purchase, a portion of the sale is donated to the charity World Vision, which aims to build a better world for children and their families and communities in the U.S. and around the world through education, water and hygiene, microenterprise, community development, and disaster relief.
Why It's Fun
First and foremost, girls will like playing with these large dolls. The online component is great for extending the play of the doll, and girls will enjoy becoming a part of this kid-safe community.
Who It's For
Hearts for Hearts Girls dolls are for girls ages 6 and up.
What to Be Aware of
For parents looking to expose their daughters to other cultures and engage them in giving to others, Hearts for Hearts Girls is a fun and interactive way to do both. While not the first doll line to combine doll play and charity (The Karito Kids doll line has been on the market in specialty channels for a few years now.), it's an interesting way to open girls' eyes to what's going on in the world.
The dolls are very pretty, but they do look a lot alike—just in different skin tones. That won't bother most girls or parents, but it is something to be aware of.
