What It IsKids are in charge of driving Thomas with this preschool R/C train that's easy for even the youngest kids to operate because all they have to do is shine a light for Thomas to follow. The controller looks like a railroad lantern, and when kids shine its light on the floor, Thomas will go where they're pointing. In addition to this basic play mode, Thomas has three programmed moves—Figure 8's, circles and zigzags.
Thomas is about eight inches long, and the controller is sized so it's easy to grip by even the smallest hands. It's also easy to switch between play modes. A decent amount of open floor space is required so Thomas has room to maneuver. (He can get hung up on a wall, for instance, if he doesn't have enough of a turning radius and need a helping hand to set him on track again.) The train also includes sound effects and favorite Thomas phrases. This is a creative toy that will please any Thomas fan. For the very youngest children, parents will want to be involved in the play so that kids get the most out of it. They'll soon learn how to run it and want to take over being the engineer.
