What It Is
The Adventures of Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey is now available in full color for the first time. This special edition also includes an all-new, 16-page bonus section, including "Behind the Underpants" and fun facts.
In the book, fourth-grade class clowns George Beard and Harold Hutchins create the greatest superhero of all time: Captain Underpants. These mischievous kids then bring their superhero to life when they hypnotize their school principal and make him think he is Captain Underpants. Things go awry when the newly christened Captain Underpants runs off. George and Harold must chase after him and help him solve crimes, with the help of some fake doggy doo-doo, of course.

What To Be Aware Of
The Adventures of Captain Underpants took the number one spot on the American Library Association's 2012 Top Ten Most Challenged Books List. The reasons? "Offensive language" and "unsuited for age group". Let's be clear. This book is certainly no Fifty Shades of Grey. Captain Underpants contains no bad words. And while it's potty humor might not be suitable by some opinions, it's certainly appealing to kids in the recommended age range because it's silly, with a little bit of harmless naughtiness thrown in. Most importantly, it gets boys in that age range to read. Ultimately, it's up to parents to decide if this is a book to add to their child's home library.
