What It Is
It's time for tea with Princess Sofia in the Sofia the First Magical Tea Time Game. The game is for two to four players, and each player receives their own teacup and place setting. Then spread out the 36 treat tiles on the gameboard. Next to the board, place the three Fairy Headmistress plates.
On your turn, choose one treat and turn it over. Then follow the rules based on what is on the bottom. If you turn over a color, put the treat on the Fairy Headmistress plate of the matching color. If you turn over a multi-color, put the treat on the Fairy Headmistress plate of your choice.
If you turn over a teacup, put the treat on your place setting. Then, pick up your teacup and blow on your tea with your mouth to make the "tea" inside spin. When it stops, take all the treats from the Fairy Headmistress plate of the matching color. Put them on your own place setting.
If you turn over a teapot, put the treat on your place setting. Then, take the air puffer teapot. Starting with the player on your left, squeeze the teapot above her teacup to make the tea spin. When it stops, that player takes all the treats from the Fairy Headmistress of the matching color. Do the same for the other players and yourself.
There are three Good Manners treats. If you turn over a treat with a picture of an elbow on it and your elbows are already off the table, or if you're the first player to take your elbows off the table, you get this treat. If you turn over a treat with a picture of Sofia curtsying on it, the first player to stand up and curtsy takes the treat. And if you turn over the treat with the speech bubble on it, the player who said "please" or "thank you" most recently takes the treat.
When all the treats have been taken, the game is over. The player with the most treats wins.
Why It’s Fun
This is a fun first game for preschoolers that encourages imaginative play. The spinning tea is so clever and kind of magical for young kids. The game is also a way to introduce children to table etiquette (no elbows on the table) and manners. And we're sure kids will have fun hosting pretend tea parties with the game pieces even when not playing the game.
Who It’s For
The Sofia the First Magical Tea Time Game is for Sofia the First fans ages 3 and up.
