What It Is
Parents looking for an affordable tablet will want to check out the Proscan 7-inch Internet Tablet. This Android tablet features a 7-inch touchscreen, 4 GB of flash memory, and a front-facing camera for taking pictures and video, watching videos, and video conferencing or Skyping. You can expand the memory to 32GB by adding a micro SD memory card, which is sold separately. The Proscan 7-inch Internet Tablet runs on a 1.2 GHz processor. This internet-ready tablet also has Wi-Fi. The screen auto adjusts for brightness and, when you turn it, the screen adjusts its size. Proscan says the tablet's rechargeable battery should last 15 hours if just listening to music, three hours if accessing the internet, and four hours if watching videos. The tablet also comes with a mini USB adaptor, a charger, and a headphone jack.
Why It’s Fun
Overall, this is a great value for a tablet because it's being sold for around $60. Like a typical Android system, this is quite good. The navigation is easy, however, when you press an icon on the touchscreen, you really need to press firmly in order for the tablet to register your touch. The Internet speed will vary depending on your Wi-Fi connection. This tablet works great for checking email and using the Internet. Gaming was so-so. The apps and games were slow to download compared to other tablets. The length of the battery life will depend on how you use the tablet, but expect it to last between 3–5 hours.
We would not give this tablet to a 3–6-year-old because that age range needs something more durable and educational. And there are lots of great options out there for younger kids. But for children 7 and up, especially teens, the Proscan 7-inch Internet Tablet is a great option. It gives kids their own tablet at a value price.
Who It’s For
