What It Is
With the Ribbon Bangles activity book and kit, kids can create five ribbon-wrapped bracelets. The book comes with directions on how to wrap ribbon around plain bracelets and then create different designs and patterns, such as the crisscross, spiral twist, and candy cane, on the bracelet using smaller pieces of ribbon and glue. Ribbon Bangles comes with 54 feet of wide and narrow ribbon in nine colors, glue, five bangles, and a ruler that is printed on the inside back cover of the book. You'll also need a sharp pair of scissors, toothpicks for spreading the glue, and clear nail polish. These supplies are not included.
Why It’s Fun
Ribbon Bangles is a fun activity for kids who like making their own jewelry. The step-by-step instructions make it easy for kids to turn a plain bracelet into a chic bangle by just adding ribbon. Some of the ribbon designs are more complicated than others, so kids may want to start with the easier patterns and work their way up to the more intricate designs.
Who It’s For
Ribbon Bangles is for ages 8 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Some of the ribbon patterns require the use of a lot of ribbon. To make these bangles and still be able to make other bangles in the book, you might need to get more ribbon from your local fabric or craft store. Look for 1/8-inch ribbon (narrow) and 3/8-inch ribbon (wide).
It may take 20-30 minutes for kids to make their bracelets, but remember that the creation process is part of the fun and play.
To smooth out creased ribbon, iron it at a low or polyester setting with an adult's help.
When your bangle is done, wait a day before wearing it to allow the glue to completely dry. It's best to take off your bangle before washing your hands or taking a shower.
