What It Is
What It Is
Nanoblock are micro-sized building blocks (about 1/8 the size of a traditional LEGO-style building block) that allow kids to build 3-D objects that fit in the palms of their hands. Developed in Tokyo, Nanoblock blocks lock firmly together, thanks to their patented design. The smallest Nanoblock piece is four by four by five millimeters.
There are two Nanoblock collections available: The Mini Series, which come in small resealable plastic bags and feature different buildable animals sold separately, and the Sites to See series, which lets kids build such landmarks as the Taj Mahal and Eiffel Tower. Each set includes anywhere from 150 to more than 500 pieces.
Why It’s Fun
Nanoblock building is challenging and fun for all construction enthusiasts. The sets may be very tiny, but kids will enjoy putting them together, as well as collecting them.
Who It’s For
Nanoblock construction sets are for ages 8 and up. Kids will enjoy building the different sets, but the collectible quality of some of these sets will also appeal to adults.
What to Be Aware of
The Nanoblock sets are assigned difficulty levels (level one is easy and level five is hard) based on how many pieces each set contains. Younger kids may want to start with easier sets and progress to the harder sets.
