What It Is
Hercules is the pet guinea pig in a first grade classroom. "Herky," as the kids affectionately call him, wants to grow plants just like the students do. He sneaks some pumpkins seeds away during the class' annual jack-o-lantern carving party. When living with the teacher during summer vacation, Herky secretly plants them in her backyard. Then, he waits and waits. When it's back-to-school time, Herky's pumpkins aren't quite ready and he is very sad to leave them in the yard. One day, the teacher's father visits the class with pumpkins that have mysteriously grown in their backyard and Herky is very happy. He grabs some seeds from one of the new pumpkins while the students carve it, and the cycle begins again.
