Moshi Monsters: Moshling Zoo is the first DS game based on the popular online kids’ community, Moshi Monsters. The game lets kids explore colorful lands and search for Moshi Monsters, or Moshlings, as they are known. When a Moshling is discovered, the player will have to perform a task to win over the Moshling and make it want to come live in the player’s zoo.
Over the holidays, every one of my gaming friends were talking about Skyrim and what an amazing game it was, so I had to pick it up and see for myself. My friends were right and Skyrim has, without a doubt, become my latest favorite game.
Mario is back in an all new Super Mario game, Super Mario 3D Land. 3D Land marks Mario’s first 3DS game and is probably the most effective 3D game yet to arrive for the 3DS.
Lalaloopsy: Sew Magical! Sew Cute! allows kids to explore the Lalaloopsy world as one of their favorite Lalaloopsy characters. All 12 dolls in the real-world product line are included in the game as playable characters so kids can select from such favorites as Mittens Fluff ‘N’ Stuff, Crumbs Sugar Cookie (my personal fav.), Tippy Tumblelina, Bea Spells and the rest as they set out on such adventures as finding their pets and growing flowers.
We said goodbye to Harry Potter in J.K. Rowling’s books and then the Warner Bros. movies, so it looks like it’s time to say goodbye to Harry and friends in the LEGO video games. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 continues the adventure that was launched in Years 1-4. The game takes us through the final three books and last four films of the Harry Potter franchise. Once again, the world of Harry Potter has been recreated in LEGO style, and the game plays out as an adventure title with puzzle-solving elements throughout each level.
Disney Universe is the first video game to bring together characters and worlds from both animated and live action films. This multiplayer game has players select a costume for their avatars based on popular characters from Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. Once costumes are selected, players are dropped in a setting based on a scene from a Disney or Pixar movie and are tasked with battling enemies, solving puzzles and accomplishing tasks in order to progress through the game.
Spider-Man: Edge Of Time is like a perfect mash-up of two songs that once you have heard them combined, you can’t imagine listening to either alone again. The game is a time-traveling, alternate universe adventure where the villains of the year 2099 have figured out a way to travel back in time to get rid of Spider-Man, creating an alternate universe where the villains run the world. There is only one problem with this evil plan... the villains forgot about Spider-Man, and he has found a way to work with alternate universe Spider-Man to restore the past and save the future.
There is a reason why Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster made TimetoPlaymag.com’s Holiday 2011 Power Ups list. It’s the perfect game for kids and the adults in their lives to play together and one that both groups are genuinely going to enjoy.
It’s been nearly 20 years since Kirby’s Dream Land, the first Kirby game, was released for the Nintendo Game Boy. There have been many Kirby games since then, including last year’s new take on the Kirby franchise (and one of TimetoPlaymag.com’s Holiday 2010 Power Ups), Kirby’s Epic Yarn, but it has been nearly 15 years since Kirby’s last Dream Land game (Dream Land 3). Return To Dream Land marks both Kirby and the franchises return to the Dream Land series, and it is good to be back.
Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure is the latest video game starring everyone’s favorite fire-breathing, purple dragon, Spyro. This time around Spyro is joined by a gaggle of monster buddies in an all-new story-based adventure. Players will take on the roles of Spyro and his buddies, who are collectively known as the Skylanders, as they set out to rid a floating realm of an evil entity called Kaos.
