Scene It Bright Lights Big Screen

Bright Lights Big Screen Just May be The Perfect Party Game

What It Is

You’ve probably heard of or even played a Scene It? DVD Game but did you know that they also have new video game versions for the Wii, PS3 and Xbox360? These game-system versions still feature movie trivia questions and puzzles but remove the lag and long load times that often bogged down the DVD versions.

In Bright Lights Big Screen you will be asked to answer questions and solve puzzles based on recent movies from the past year as well as Hollywood hits of the last four decades.

Why It’s Fun

While the game includes a single-player option it’s fun really shines when a group of people get together to play, like a traditional board game.

The game’s user-interface is a packed with comedy beginning with each player’s on-screen avatar. The avatars are based on classic movie-genre characters, such as the Horror Queen, Swashbuckler and Leading Man, and appear throughout the game making hilarious comments and gestures based on how you are playing. You are also guided through the game by a snarky and witty host who introduces each round and tallies up scores afterward.

Every aspect of Bright Lights Big Screen, from the movie clips to the mini-game style puzzles, is upbeat, light-hearted and fun!

Who’s Going To Love It

Most of the content and questions will probably be a little dull for younger kids but anyone 10 through 100 will enjoy the game and have fun playing together.

You don’t have to be a movie-buff to play this game because the questions and puzzles are based on a wide range of movie genres assuring that everyone playing is familiar with more than one movie. Additionally, most rounds don’t rely on the players pre-existing knowledge of the movies themselves. For example, one round plays a clip of a movie and then asks several questions based on the clip that everyone just watched.

What To Be Aware Of

Bright Lights Big Screen includes a short mode for playing a quicker game.

The game-play itself rewards players for correct answers but some rounds also give extra points for answering quickly, which really ups the competitive aspect.

The game is rated Teen because of the content of some of the clips. Don’t worry, you aren’t going to see or hear anything R rated but some clips might contain PG-13 material and language.

Fun Scale

4 out of 5
