Toys from the Movies: Transformers
The coolest new toys from one of the summer's hottest movies
I love action movies, and I really enjoy most of the summer popcorn movies. I am also a big fan of most of the Michael Bay movies. I liked The Island , and every time Armageddon is on TV, I still can't turn it off.
I feel the same way about the first Transformers movie from two years ago. Michael Bay came to Toy Fair this year and showed a select group of us footage from the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It was definitely a really big show. The screening was held in a theater with one of the biggest screens in New York, and one of the best sound systems. Talk about maximum impact! While you may want to watch the DVD over and over when it comes out, you're going to have to see this on the biggest screen possible when it comes out.
Of course, you can never tell how good a movie is ultimately going to be from 15 minutes of footage, but from what I saw, this could be better than the first. Sam and Mikaela are back, as are his embarrassing parents (with the best lines), Sector 7 (John Turturro was a scene stealer), BumbleBee and Optimus Prime, and some of the coolest new "mechanical beings" you'll ever see.
Now, if we're talking about Transformers, then we have to talk about the toys. They have legions of fans every year - even when there's not a huge movie to get everyone buzzing. There's an entire new line of toys to coincide with the premiere of the movie - and to roll out throughout the summer.
Here are the hottest new toys from Transformers. Personally, I am partial to the BumbleBee toys.
Here are the toys that are going to be available when the movie hits theaters on June 24:
