Jack Sparrow, Princess Jasmine and Tron Suit Up for an Amazing Adventure
What It Is
Disney Universe is the first video game to bring together characters and worlds from both animated and live action films. This multiplayer game has players select a costume for their avatars based on popular characters from Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. Once costumes are selected, players are dropped in a setting based on a scene from a Disney or Pixar movie and are tasked with battling enemies, solving puzzles and accomplishing tasks in order to progress through the game.
Why It’s Fun
There are more than 40 classic and contemporary character costumes including, Captain Jack Sparrow, Alice (Alice in Wonderland), Mike (Monsters Inc.), Ariel, Wall-E, Tron, Princess Jasmine and, of course, Mickey Mouse. Unlike other games, players don’t play as one of the characters, but rather as a figure wearing a suit based on the characters. It’s like wearing a costume of your favorite Disney character.
The game features a frenetic pace and game-show like atmosphere that makes Disney Universe feel like a party game, like the Mario Party series, but with full playable levels rather than assorted mini-games. Each level begins with an objective that players have to work towards while obstacles, ranging from swarms of enemies to deadly water, are thrown into the game.
Who’s Going To Love It
This is a dream game for Disney fans of all ages. Up to four players can play together and players help each other as they work through each level. This makes Disney Universe the perfect game for parents (and aunts or uncles) to play with the kids in their lives. Additionally, players of varying skills will have fun playing together because they share the screen and can play at their own pace. Skilled players can battle to fend off the enemies while less advanced players work on removing the obstacles in each level.
What To Be Aware Of
Disney Universe can be played by one person alone or up to four players together. The game is just as much fun for one or two players as it is for four.
There are only a handful of character suits available at the beginning of the game. More suits will be unlocked as players progress through the game.
Some costumes can only be unlocked by playing levels more than once, which adds to the game’s replay value.
5 out of 5
It has to be fun or it wouldn’t be on Time to Play. But some games are more fun than others so here’s our scale: 1 is fun, 2 is a lot of fun, 3 is great, 4 is awesome and 5 is out-of-this-world!
