Thomas & Friends Racing Around Sodor Game
We were very excited to have had the opportunity to review the Thomas & Friends Racing Around Sodor Game for the Time to Play Mag Real Parents/Real Reviews.
The game includes ONE talking plastic Thomas the Tank Engine and four color coded location bridges (Knapford Station-green, Tidmouth Sheds-red, Brendam Docks-blue and The Quarry-yellow). You will need three AAA batteries as they are not included before you can play.
Racing Around Sodor has three play modes. The first allows for open-ended play as your child can play at his own pace while he pushes Thomas over bridge locations and hear Thomas announce each one. The second game mode is a one player game where your child will reinforce learning his colors as Thomas announces which color location bridge to push him ‘to make his deliveries’ before ‘time runs out’. There are multiple levels to achieve in this play mode and in higher levels Thomas will call out location rather than color. The third game mode is for two players, this is where parents can race against their child to see who can help Thomas make his deliveries the fastest. Thomas announces the winner after each player has taken a turn/completed the level.
My five year old son and I enjoyed playing this game. However, I feel it would better suit a child around 2-4 years of age who is learning their colors. My little engineer loves Thomas the Train! He enjoyed interacting with Thomas, hearing him announce each station as well as racing against and beating his mom. We were a little disappointed that you have to push Thomas, it would have been nice to have had a self-propel feature in the first game mode. Thomas is equipped with two volume controls, low and high.
I would recommend this game for any Thomas the Tank Engine Fan especially those learning their colors.
