Start The Party
The Perfect Family Party Game for PlayStation Move
What It Is
Start The Party is a collection of mini-games that use the PlayStation Eye camera and Move Controllers to put you and your family members on your TV and in the games. The games are all fast-paced and will have everyone on their feet to play and having fun while doing it.
Why It’s Fun
Players start the game by posing for their gamepiece picture, which will represent you throughout the game. If you and your family members are anything like my friends, you can easily spend hours trying to outdo each other for the funniest picture.
After the goofball photo shoot is complete, you are right into the games and that’s where things get crazy. The mini-games in Start The Party are all cute with a twist. For example, in the game “Blown Away” the object is to guide falling chicks into nests using a fan to blow them in the right direction. The chicks are adorable and fluffy, but don’t let them hit your fan or they will be diced into a puff of feathers. Don’t worry, there isn’t any blood or gross imagery.
In “Rooftop Rescue” you use the Move Controller to move a helicopter and try to reach cute little people who are stranded on rooftops in a city under attack by a giant lizard monster. It’s basically a cartoon version of Godzilla and if you don’t reach the people on time, the monster eats them like candy. See what I mean about cute with a twist?
Who’s Going To Love It
This is the perfect family party game because everyone in the family will find it fun, funny and highly entertaining. Parents will actually enjoy playing this with the kids and might even have fun playing it with other adults.
Kids as young as four will be able to play some of the simpler challenges with the difficulty setting set to easy (you can choose one of three levels for each game).
The single player mode is perfect for casual gamers.
What To Be Aware Of
Start The Party is a PlayStation 3 exclusive game that requires the PlayStation Move (controllers and camera).
Replayability
Extremely high. There are more than 20 mini-games in Start The Party, so playing them all can easily take more than a few games. Since all of the games are so fast and frantic, you can repeatedly return to any of them to try to beat your record and you might find that you enjoy playing a favorite over and over.
Fun Scale
4 out of 5
It has to be fun or it wouldn’t be on Time to Play. But some games are more fun than others so here’s our scale: 1 is fun, 2 is a lot of fun, 3 is great, 4 is awesome and 5 is out-of-this-world!
