Disney Guilty Party

Grab Your Family and Start Sleuthing!

What It Is

Disney Guilty Party is a new family-friendly party game from Disney that turns players into detectives as they try to solve a series of mysteries and figure out who the guilty party is. The game initiates each mystery with entertaining stories that introduce the characters and set the stage. Once the sleuthing is afoot, each player will have a turn to explore the environment to uncover clues and interview suspects in an attempt to try to solve the mystery. Players keep track of clues and suspects in their notebooks, which they can consult on their turns. When players have enough evidence, they can accuse their prime suspect and try to solve the case. It’s sort of like a video game version of Clue without the murders and weapons.

Why It’s Fun

The story revolves around the Dickens Detective Agency, whose members are the playable characters, as they solve crimes set in motion by the master criminal known as Mr. Valentine. Players will solve crimes in a variety of locations all over the world to unlock the secrets of Mr. Valentine’s grand scheme. Each wacky character has his or her own distinct personality and they are all very entertaining with plenty of jokes up their sleeves.

Players perform a series of mini-game-style actions in order to explore the environment and talk to suspects. These actions include “dusting for finger prints”, where the Wii-Remote is used to sweep away dust to reveal the prints underneath. Some of the suspects want money in return for information and once again, the Wii-Remote becomes the tool with which the player hands them the cash. The suspects and clues are scattered throughout the various environment settings, such as the rooms of a mansion, but they roam from room to room between each players turn.

The game’s pace is quick and up-tempo and features a very catchy theme song.

Who’s Going To Love It

This is an ideal game for the entire family to play together. Players can select their individual difficulty level so everyone can enjoy playing without becoming frustrated.

What To Be Aware Of

One person can play the game, but it is a lot more fun with two or more. Additional players can jump in or drop out at any time during a game.

Be warned, the catchy theme song will get stuck in your head.

Navigating around the different areas of the game is a little sticky, as it requires using the Wii-Remote’s Control Pad and motion sensing capabilities. I kept accidentally entering a room that I didn’t want to go to but my Wii-Remote did.

Once the mysteries are solved, players can play again with a new set of clues, suspects and mini-games with a different experience every time.

Fun Scale

4 out of 5

It has to be fun or it wouldn’t be on Time to Play. But some games are more fun than others so here’s our scale: 1 is fun, 2 is a lot of fun, 3 is great, 4 is awesome and 5 is out-of-this-world!
